The water had dropped from Sunday by a few inches but clarity wasn't any better, the gusting cold wind was definitely killing the chance of any hatches happening and to be honest the only olive that would work in that height and clarity was a garden olive namely a worm. I did try to get near the river but the bank and clarity of water were just too dangerious due to fact that one could easily slide in due to the soft bank and poor visibility. In situations like that I have always taken safety first and only wear short boots so that I won't go too far in and if anything happens they're off in a flash. Just a word of warning to all anglers fishing in these conditions it's better not to try to wade if you don't know the water well or if you can't see bottom. Remember it doesn't take that much water to sweep you away, I have pulled many anglers from floods in the past and it's always the same answer , they thought it wasn't that bad. I will try again in a few days but to be honest it'll have to drop off a few feet with way better clarity before things will improve for fly fishing. The frogs were in great form with frog spawn everywhere and I took some video where I shot a heron chomping down a huge frog at least someone was catching.
