Wooley Buggers

Here is a selection of the Wooley Buggers that i use at night for the Monster Trout, they come in black, olive ,white and brown in various sizes, some with cone heads for added depth. Using short sharp retrieves with a floating fly line makes the cone heads come to life, darting up and down they look like a wounded fish and that is what the big trout are after.

  3. Really impressed with your results in Ireland. I got into streamer fishing about a decade ago after a couple of trips to Montana and some tutoring from Kelly Galloup. I like to use a 5-weight spey rod, skagit head, tungsten tip and 3 to 4 inch articulated streamers. Amazing hits from big browns, cannot understand why more people in the UK don't fish like this.

    1. Hi Peter, your dead right its very rare to see anybody fishing with wooly buggers or streamers and they can be deadly at nighttime and in daylight on rivers in flood.
